about
This song, written by my good friend, Jeff Leavitt, was inspired by a discussion a few us had after I listened to Madison Cunningham on the Sodajerker podcast and after reading the following article on the Reverb website:
I was just a boy
When I heard the sound
I didn’t know What I had found
It wasn’t steel
And it wasn’t bright
But the legend grew
Of a sound so tight
It made no sense
This strange device
Of genius born like a burning ice
Crowds cheered the strain
Of the blessed machine
The strings now tamed by neoprene
Rubber Bridge
Beneath my hand (like a rubber band)
The more it rocked
The more it sang
Rubber Bridge
Your soothing tone (gonna make it mine)
On my guitar
You’re finally home
You’re finally home

Written, performed, recorded, and mixed by Jeff Leavitt, except for the lead vocal, which was sung by Peter LaQuerre.
Jeff is a graduate of Berklee School of Music, and he once owned his own recording studio. Outside of his day job, he dabbles in songwriting, guitar playing, and other music-related pursuits. More specifically, he has always been an excellent guitar player and has been known for his long-time pursuit of great guitar tones.
Thanks also to Steve Thomas for his consulting and advice throughout the recording, mixing, and collaboration process. Steve is responsible for SteveT and the Rough Edges, which you can also listen to on Bandcamp:
